Repertoire Requirement for the 26th edition

📌Please be sure to read “General Rules for Repertoire” (PDF file) before selecting the repertoire to be performed.

📌Before applying, please read “the Rules of the 26th International Chopin Piano Competition in ASIA” which will be published this summer. In the event of any discrepancy between the Repertoire Requirements published below and the Rules, the contents of the Rules shall prevail.

📌The main changes for the 26th edition are:

–For the Final Round in the Concerto I, Concerto AA, Concerto AB, Concerto B, Concerto C, Chopinist Concerto A only the Hall Audition will be held and not the Video Audition.

–The repertoire requirements for the Junior High School and Senior High School have been changed.

–The time allowed to perform in the Chopinist I and Chopinist A has been changed.

Please check the repertoire requirements for each category as there are other changes.

Repertoire Requirement

Professional Category

This superlative category is to discover and encourage young promising pianists who pursue a career as a professional pianist (open to all nationalities).
The Professional Category will not be held at this 26th edition as the 6th Delegate Competition will be held. For more information on the 6th Delegate Competition, please see this page.

Solo Categories

For all participants up to and including junior high school students, for senior high school students and older participants who specialise in music, and for those with equivalent skills. The choice of category should be based on the age of the participant (open to all nationalities).

who are undergraduate/graduate students majoring in piano performance, or those of equivalent age and skills

Chopinist Categories

For those who adore the music of Chopin, with the exception of students majoring in piano performance (open to all nationalities).

Chopinist IOpen to those born on April 1, 2009, or before, who adore the music of Chopin, except current students and graduates whose major is/was in piano performance, and those who earn income by performing or teaching piano.
Chopinist AOpen to those born on April 1, 2009, or before, who adore the music of Chopin, except current students and graduates whose major is/was in piano performance, and those who earn income by performing or teaching piano.
Chopinist BOpen to those born on April 1, 2009, or before, who adore the music of Chopin, except current students whose major is in piano performance.
Chopinist SOpen to those born on April 1, 1969, or before, who adore the music of Chopin, except current students whose major is in piano performance. *Playing from memory is optional.
Chopinist Concerto AOpen to those born on April 1, 2006, or before, who adore the music of Chopin, except current students whose major is in piano performance.
